Smith County Commissioner Cary Nix was honored during Commissioners Court on Tuesday, January 26, 2021, for 10 years of service to the county.
County Judge Nathaniel Moran thanked Commissioner Nix for his decade of service and said he is very deliberate in his thoughts and his speech. Judge Moran said he was an easy person to work with; he is a commissioner who only seeks out resolutions, and not conflict; and is always looking for answers to people’s questions.
Commissioner Nix said it has been an honor to be elected three times as Commissioner for Precinct 2, which covers the Troup, Whitehouse, Arp and New Chapel Hill areas of Smith County.
Commissioner Nix recently announced that he will not be running again when his third term expires in two years.
“It’s been a pleasure working with him,” Commissioner JoAnn Hampton said of Nix. “He’s been great.”
