Lindale High School band brings home another title

The Pride of Lindale March Band from Lindale High School brought home its fourth state title this past week by winning the UIL State Military Band competition at McClane Stadium in Waco.
Lindale won the Class 4A division with Spring Hill High School second, Bullard third and Gilmer fourth.
The previous week, the Lindale band earned a Division I Sweepstakes at the UIL Marching Band Contest in Nacogdoches for the 49th straight year.
This is the fourth year that the UIL has had a separate Military and Open Style State Marching Band Competition. It allows both styles to be judged based upon criteria specific to each style.
“I am so thankful to get the opportunity to work with the young men and women of the Lindale Band,” said Band Director Steven Moore. “They are the best and I am so proud of them. I also want to thank my staff. They are amazing at what they do and I am thankful to call them colleagues and friends. Finally, thank you to the Lindale community, Lindale Band Boosters and band parents, the LISD Board of Trustees, LISD staff and administrators for all of their support.”
There are more than 220 students in the band, which has been practicing for this competition since August.
“We are so proud of our Eagle Band program,” said Superintendent Stan Surratt. “Band Director, Steven Moore and his staff have certainly built one of the best band programs in the state. As a superintendent, I just could not be prouder of this group of musicians.’’
