Lindale City Council members approved retaining Gollob Morgan Peddy to perform the city’s audit for fiscal year 2023-24 during their regular meeting held Tuesday, May 7.
In related news, the votes from the May 4 city election, which saw Jerretta Nance Pate defeat incumbent Place 2 council member and Mayor Pro Tem Yvette Martin 170 votes to 66, or 72.03 percent to 27.97 percent.
Gavin Rasco, current Place 6 city council member, ran unopposed for the mayoral seat.
Current Mayor Jeff Daugherty announced several weeks ago he would not seek re-election after serving 17 years on the council and as mayor.
All votes are unofficial until all votes are canvassed, which was scheduled to take place on May 14 at city hall.
Lindale city officials said the swearing in ceremony for the new council members should take place prior to the May 21 city council meeting.
Also, during that meeting council members will vote on someone to fill Rasco’s Place 6 seat.
Gollob Morgan Peddy has been performing this audit for several years.
In other action, council members:
• Approved the lease purchase of a 36-inch multi-function printer;
• Approved a resolution to adopt an ADA nondiscrimination statement. This is a required action from the state;
• Approved a resolution to adopt a grievance procedure under the Americans with Disabilities Act, an item related to the nondiscrimination statement;
• Approved a public works budgeted item for a dump trailer and mowing equipment;
• Approved budget amendments for the budget year 2023-24.
