Council hears plans of ‘State Of City’ address for Sept. 21

Lindale Mayor Gavin Rasco provided an update on his State of the City address to the city council this past week at city hall.
The address is scheduled for 11 a.m.-12 noon on Saturday at Picker’s Pavilion in downtown Lindale.
The mayor said this will be a chance for the citizens to meet him and other council members as well as receive updates on current future city projects. Refreshments are planned to be served as well.
Also, the council approved awarding a bid to A.E. Shull and Company for the sewer extension on East Centennial Blvd., a project that is part of the city’s 2017 Master Plan and will be funded from the sale of bonds, capital funds and the Lindale Economic Development Corp. Construction is expected to take approximately 18 months.
In other action, the council:
• Approved a Halloween event to be held in the Memorial Parking lot downtown on Saturday, Oct. 26;
• Gave provisional approval of adding adult soccer leagues to the current soccer contract. City Attorney Glen Patrick is to amend the current contract and bring it back to the council for final approval;
• Approved releasing retainage of retainer for the Memorial Drive Parking lot following its completion and inspection;
• Rejected the single bid for sewer manhole improvements and instructed officials to seek more bids;
• Approved a 4.8 percent increase on solid waste collection from Republic Services and approved a city ordinance adjusting trash rates, effective for Oct. 1, 2024.
• Approved a resolution amending the city pay scale to reflect a 3 percent cost of living adjustment, effective Oct. 1, 2024.
The council also approved the following plats:
• Unit 2 and 3 of Reserve at Timber Creek at CR 474 creating 49 lots and 60 lots, respectively;
• The property at 17738 CR 4112 in Lindale;
• The property at 1100 South Main, creating four lots;
• The property at 18541 CR 4116, creating two lots;
