If indeed “April showers bring May flowers,’’ there should be a lot of blooming going on in the next few weeks thanks to drenching rains across Lindale and East Texas this past week.
According to National Weather Service data, the region received between 3 and 5 inches of rain in a 24-hour period beginning early Tuesday (April 9) and continuing through Wednesday (April 10).
This exceeded the average amount – 3.8 inches – for April, NWS figures show. So far this month, the region has received 5.57 inches of rain.
In Lindale, County Road 463 (Wood Springs Road) had portions underwater as did County Road 370, located in eastern Smith County.
Road and bridge crews were busy most of the week clearing downed trees and debris, but none reported road closures due to the weather.
